Even though supporters of both Liverpool and Everton Football Clubs knew Gary was seriously ill, he came as a great shock this morning to hear of his passing at the age of just 46.
He served both clubs so proudly as a player and in a coaching capacity and he will be sadly missed.
Below is an article taken from Daily Mail which sums up everything about Gary Ablett the man:

I also echo the sentiments of Kop-Post and wish to express my sadness at the lost of a member of the LFC family.
ReplyDeleteTo be able to play for both Merseyside clubs and still be highly respected says a lot about the character and good nature of the person.
To also return to LFC for a short period of time as reserve team coach showed that he had a bright future as an excellent coach.
My condolences go out to his family and as a member of the LFC family - he will never walk alone.

I would like to add that I was very disappointed that Man City didn't show our former player the respect of a minute's silence or applause before the game on Tuesday. LFC wore black armbands for the game but I felt more could have been done by our hosts on the night.
ReplyDeleteHe was a respected player in the world of football and deserved a fitting tribute like Gary Speed but I hope Liverpool address this in their next home game.
Today is the funeral for Gary Ablett at 12pm at the Liverpool Anglican Cathedral - hope everything goes smoothly and that he has a well deserved send off.
