Vital Games Ahead In Our Chase for A Champions League Place

Tottenham tonight and Man United on Saturday and with almost all those who would normally be considered for first team places in contention, who should ‘King Kenny’ pick for tonight’s game?

  1. I’d still like us to play 4-4-2 with Kuyt and Bellamy on the Wings and Carroll and Suarez up fornt. We’re at home so we may as well show some attacking intent. I think that Jay and Stevie should be able to compete in midfield with Suarez, Kuyt and Bellamy dropping in to help when we don’t have possession. I wouldn’t let Charlie Adam anywhere near the team tonight because he can’t tackle and Modric and Parker would run rings round him.

Having said all that I fully expect Kenny to pack the Midfield and play with a lone striker hoping to hit Spurs on the break. One thing he can’t do is drop Carroll, if he ever wants the guy to come into form he has to build on his recent improved performances. For me if Carroll doesn’t play tonight it shows that he is not in Kenny’s long term plans.

  2. Well I do not care how we win, tonight is almost like a must win game for us, seeing Newcastle had a luxury of 2.1 win against Aston Villa yesterday. A win will put us right up there with a point behind NC and 2 point shy of the 4th place our promised land.

We should be mindful of the fact this week Saturday we have a serious game against the 2nd place Man U away. We just can't afford to lose two games on the a row at this point of the season.

  3. No problem with what you suggest Baz as Dalglish will hopefully pick a team to make Spurs worry about us because the end game should be to win the game. As I've said all along Adams doesn't do it for me in a 4-4-2 and again if he drops Carroll it will be the second time in the league this season after he's scored and if you want to knock his confidence then that's the way to go about it. If he goes 4-4-2 it's either Spearing or Henderson next to Gerrard and right now I'd go Spearing all day long because he has the discipline to hold and move the ball on quickly. Atmosphere should be like 'one of the Anfield nights' with the football frenetic.

If we win we're on the heels of Chelsea with momentum to go to Old Trafford full of confidence.

  4. We have so "must win" games, buy yes this another. Apart from the exclusion of Glenn Johnson, who quite often has been one of our creative players, I'd be quite happy to settle with Barry's team:

    Reina
    Kelly Skrtel Agger Enrique

    Kuyt Spearing Gerrard Bellamy

    Carroll Suarez

But I think Carroll will and should play. I think he well also pick Henderson which probably means there's no Dirk

  5. Who was the first player that got sent off at White Hart Lane in September's 4 nil thrashing. I know Skrtel was the second one? I think dropping Dirk may not be a good move. I wish Henderson would start on the bench for tonight.

  6. By the way everyone, can you please break the curses on Torres head and pray for him, I can't imagine what is going on in his head.

  8. Karl,

Please pray for the guy. He really is suffering for his crime against Liverpool fans!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. Don't know who's suffering more, we relying on Andy Carroll for our goals, or Torres for leaving the way he did...

  10. David Luiz blesses Torres before every game and it doesn’t seem to be working. The guy just can’t score, nice cross for Mata’s goal yesterday though. To be honest it is getting to the stage where I am starting to feel a little bit sorry for Nando, he doesn’t deserve our pity but he doesn’t look happy at all.

  11. The way Hernandez twinkling feet dazzled Luiz on the 3rd goal he needs to stary praying for himself.

Must admit when Torres fluffed his lines, I was expecting a director to shout, "cut... stage fright again son"!

  12. Spurs injury news from Sky –

Jermain Defoe (hamstring) is unlikely to play, Rafael van der Vaart is struggling with a calf problem and Emmanuel Adebayor hobbled off during Tuesday's win over Wigan with a hamstring complaint.

Aaron Lennon (hamstring) is extremely doubtful, William Gallas (calf) and Tom Huddlestone (ankle) are unavailable, but Kyle Walker (groin) and Ledley King (knee) should be fit.Spurs injury news from Sky –

  13. Then he should, like Fabregas, beg forgiveness and ask to come home. Imagine, he is unlikely to feture at the Euros! Perhaps he'll be in their Olympic team.

  14. Let's force Spurs back by constant pressure - they started quickly against us at White Hart Lane - now they are at our ground lets give them a tsate of the KOP medicine!

  15. The country called Spain has talented players, of Torres is in the team, he may not have a kick of the ball in his present form be it Olympic or Euros

  16. Unlike the rest of u the more goals Andy Carroll gets the better for us compared to our former player and I just will continue laughing at Fernando DontScorres! The klonger the drought continues the better!
